Brown Bag Party Convention

Hi all! After attending Brown Bag Party's annual convention in California this past week I came home with ONE thing on my mind! SHARE!!! Share the experience, share the excitement, share the passion, and share the opportunity! I couldn't believe the energy and enthusiasim of the people I met at this event! I wanted to bottle it and take it home with me. I'm doing the next best thing, looking to add to my team so that I can create the same feeling all over!

This was my first flight all the way across country and I decided to make a mini vacation of it as well a take advantage of the convention. I met a fellow Brown Bag Rep out there and we visited DisneyLand, Laguna Beach and Balboa Island. Leila and I hit it off like old friends almost immediately. I'm not shocked at this, as all the Brown Bag Party sisters just have that effect on each other. The jet lag got to both of us a bit but it seemed to simply be a part of the fun as we took advantage of snacks and drinks in the hot tub that first night before pooping out at 10 PM. What was funny how we woke up at 5:30 AM ready to take on the world the next day. It felt like 8AM to us! The conversations we had were wonderful, ranging from our different cultures (Leila is french!), the difference between the east and west landscapes, our businesses, our personal lives, and how much smaller DisneyLAND is than DisneyWORLD! I had totally lost my voice by the time Brown Bag Party swooped in on the Hilton in Irvine!

Convention started on wednesday evening with a meet & greet loaded with mardi gras beads, a zydeco band, and a whole lot of hugs & squeals as all of us finally got to put a face to our tiny facebook thumbnails or got to reunite with other reps we'd already met. I was particularly excited and impressed when our company owner knew who I was before I even had a chance to introduce myself! Something like that just sealed how I already felt about such an awesome company as Brown Bag Party! I can't describe to you how it felt to meet so many people with the same deep rooted excitement for a business venture that I possess.

The next couple of days were a blur of fabulous info, seminars, freebies, classes, and raffles. Attending seminars by Julie Anne Jones, Michael Bernoff, Mary Christenson, and Kim Airs got us all so pumped up about our businesses! I for one realized the value of an investment such as convention and/or boot camp. And it was obvious that Peter and Kim put a LOT of planning, work, and money into this event! The peer to peer workshop was also priceless because we can all benefit from hearing tips from someone who's a huge success at what we're all trying to accomplish!

Rooming with Teresa, Angela, Stacy, and Susie was quite an experience! It's not an option to plan on a whole lot of rest when attending these events! First off because it turns into a slumber party like atmosphere, complete with giggles, jokes, personal stories and a few bodily noises. By the end of the week, none of us were the least bit shy at all if you get my drift! We had a great time at the hot tub and partying at DownTown Disney and I'll never ever forget that cab ride back to the hotel! I'm just going to say here, and you'll understand, if you were there, I still have all my straws......

The product and business info shared by Peter and Kim is still under wraps but I'll just say that we are SO lucky! I'm most excited about our new web design and think it will help me grow my business by leaps and bounds. We had the honor of being able to review and vote on all the new products that will be introduced in the new catalog. I hope the stuff I voted on makes the cut but even if it doesn't, it's still good because ALL of it was so incredible it was hard to choose.

There is a thing called Shop-O-Rama! It's indescribable! It's a room full of value priced fun sexy goodies and as attendees we got everything for 2 bucks! Just think x-rated day after thanksgiving sale and you will be able to imagine it. Personally, I was in there for about 17 minutes and walked away with 47 really cool sex toys and a few bruises! Tee hee! The entire staff of Brown Bag Party worked so hard on this and everything else that weekend. It all ran so smoothly and I'm so glad to finally have met them all. What a great group of people!!

All weekend there were fun raffles and free items given to us. We got a ton of marketing and branded materials handed to us. A few lucky winners won raffle items like blingy shirts, seminar books and tapes, new products, even a sexy pole! The best raffle item was saved for last, a pair of 1/2 carat diamond stud earrings!! Guess who won those??!!! ME!!!!! It's was incredible! What a high that was and still is!

The final gala was an absolute wonderland. We met on the patio to a dixieland band and mardi gras performers. There were all my Brown Bag Party family dressed their best and ready to party! Everyone looked so nice and I felt real fancy myself. The performers eventually paraded us into the ballroom which had been transformed into a real life looking Creole Mardi Gras scene that was so colorful it made our heads almost spin! Each place setting had feather boas and masks that went perfectly with our hurricane glass cocktails we'd all been served. After dinner they presented all the superstars with their awards. All these people have a lot to be proud of and I for one was inspired by them to come home and work even harder on my business so that I may, someday, walk across that stage to be rewarded for my hard work too!

Then we danced! And danced! And Danced! It was very bittersweet for me because I had to leave before it all fizzled out since my plane home was so early the next day. Of course there still was little sleep with the slumberparty that was the entire hotel but I knew I'd sleep when I got home. Still laughing at the "straw serenade" my roomies presented to me at 2AM that morning.............

So, I've faced my fears not only by flying such distances alone but by breaking an arrow with my throat in a seminar! I got home that evening, MORE jet lag, thrilled to see my husband, Scott. Wanting to share every second of my adventure with him and anyone who would listen for the next few days. All with NO voice left and sounding like a 90 year old wrestler! And they did listen, politely. But I will never be able to describe the feeling we all had out there so that anyone can truely understand unless they were there. Brown Bag Party is that special to me and to all the fantastic people who made the trek to Convention 2010! All I can say is Join the company and make money and come next year and see what the BUZZ is about! If you're already a rep, get there! You'll be glad you did and your heart will be touched forever!

Get Back in Bed!! (Or in the shower!-Wink Wink)

-These day with all there is to worry about, it’s easy to fall out of the habit of sex. But it’s because of all there is to think about, it would be a good thing to get back into the “swing” of things so to speak! Let’s face it, sex is FREE! It’s great exercise, it’s good for your ego, and can make you even closer in these tough times. So, get back in bed! Throw all those electronic devices out the bedroom door and make your room about the two of you! Well, I mean the TV’s , radios, and laptops. KEEP the toys if you’re into it! Everyone’s sex likes & dislikes are unique so you can nix those advice paperbacks too if you choose. If what you’re doing is working for you then keep doing it. Lets not mess with success! But if you need a little re-energizing, now’s the time to do it!

-You could sizzle & stir things up a bit though just to keep it interesting to both of you. If you try sex outside the bedroom, experts say that this introduces novelty which spikes dopamine in the brain, which is crucial to sexual arousal and desire. Take it outside! Have a backyard encounter, test the strength of that hammock! Try that shower, hot tub or stairwell. It doesn’t have to be scheduled either, why not get something started when you’re both in a great mood and not too tired. And even if you ARE tired, a quickee is still very hot and steamy!

-Doing a bit of role play or fantasy fun can work too if you’re both on the same page as to how far to take it. Take care of yourself! When People start to get down on themselves, they tend to loose interest in caring for their mind, body & spirit. It’s sort of like a Catch 22. Your sense of self starts to suffer, therefore you might tend stop caring about ....well, caring for yourself! One simple way to start feeling better about yourself is to take steps to enrich your grooming habits. Use a nice hair product, try a new skin care line, learn new hair removal techniques, give yourself a spa treatment, try a new bubble bath.
By treating yourself to something that is all about YOU, you can then, raise your spirits a bit. And if you use good products, it can’t help but improve parts of your body in the process too. If you do something nice to and for yourself, most likely there will be a positive result whether it’s a silkier feel to your hair or nice satiny skin, it will boost your mood and give you a sunnier outlook on things, put an extra bounce in your step!

There’s nothing more wonderful than knowing you’ve just done something positive to yourself and in doing so gave yourself a bit more confidence. People are more attractive when they seem happy with themselves. When you try these things, you can also give yourself a pat on the back for going the extra mile to enhance your well being. Be proud of yourself for whatever efforts you are putting forth with whatever you are using after all, you DO deserve the little extra care you are taking!

Go Ahead! Love Yourself!

I know a person very dear to me that FINALLY loves herself. It took a good long time to get there and I’m so proud of her! I am not considered an expert on love. But I learned a long time ago to love myself. I was in the bar business for may years and was fortunate enough to make enough money at the time to live alone without a roommate. In this time, I was master of my domain!! If I wanted to leave the dirty dishes in the sink I could! If I wanted to go shopping without checking in with someone, I could.
Did I want a significant other? Sure! But over time, I realized that, in the past, I would become a chameleon for whoever I was seeing at the time. If the guy was a super religious church goer, I’d don my easter bonnet and get all pious! If the guy was a rough around the edges "born to be wild" type, out came the leather jacket. I STILL have a box full of low slung cowgirl boots and huge belt buckles from my country boy stage!
But I had an epiphany one year. I need ME back! So I stopped dating for 18 months and got to know myself. I wasn’t too bad! In fact, I was pretty cool. Anyone remember Stuart Smalley from Saturday Night Live? "I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and Doggone it, People like me!"
Well, I don’t know whether people liked me or not. But, it dawned on me that this was NOT my concern. *I* liked me! Just the way I was! I actually started learning about myself that year. It’s amazing how many interests and hobbies that were spawned that year that I’m still passionate about.
I met my husband soon after that. I wish I could tell you that we have this movie star out of this world romance thing going on. But it’s not like that. From the moment we met (18 years ago) I was...... myself!! And for the first time, in 13 or 14 years of dating before this, I was with someone who loved me for who I was. And Vice Versa. And neither of us have EVER had to prove anything to each other or "impress" each other. This whole being me thing has been great!
Ok, now back to my original friend here. I think you know who you are. I’m so proud that you go shopping when you want, lie on your back porch for sun when you want, enjoy your pasta dinner just the way you like it. You’ve come a long way baby!! You are rich in yourself! Never ever forget that!
What’s my point?
I read a quote once that went something like this.."If you try to build intimacy with another person before you have done the hard work of getting whole on your own, all your relationships will become an attempt to complete yourself."
And oh boy is that true! In my business, I’m trying to let women know just this. Please yourself! Know yourself! Feel good about yourself and it shows! It glows!

What do I earn as a party consultant?
You will earn 50% of everything you sell. Have a $1,000 party and earn $500 in one night! Yes, 50% of everything you sell goes in your pocket. There are some small expenses associated with being a rep, such as a monthly web hosting fee, your car's gas, phone bill, stamps, etc. Each consultant's expenses will vary. If you decide to recruit and train others, you will receive 5% of their retail orders. This means if they have a $1,000 party, they'd earn $500 and you'd earn 5% of the retail order, or in this case, $50. Brown Bag Party will pay 5% three levels deep. Brown Bag Party also offers payouts 6 levels deep for Executive level consultants, car bonuses and a 10% matching bonus for Top Executives.

Will BBP take taxes out of my commission checks?
No. You are considered an independent representative of BBP and they will send you a 1099 form for your tax reporting purposes.

When do I get paid for the items I sell?
If you sell items at a home party, the customers pay you directly. If people purchase from your website, you will receive your commissions the following month, after the reporting period has closed.

Do I have to recruit people?
No. Some people prefer not to recruit and train people and it is not mandatory to be involved with BBP. The option is always there if you change your mind.

Do I charge customers sales tax during home parties?
Yes. Recent case law finds that if BBP has a rep in any state, a relationship with BBP and that particular state is formed, therefore allowing the states to collect sales tax. The states demand that every sale and shipping charges made by any of our sales reps in their states must be taxed.

How do I know what sales tax bracket to charge the customers?
Charge all the customers in attendance the current tax rate of the location of the party, even if some customers live in different cities, counties, or states. BBP has supplied a printed form for the entire US listing each state, county's and city's applicable tax rate. They will periodically update this listing, but cannot be held responsible for inaccurate information. The most current tax rates can be found on-line at your state's official website.

What do I do with the sales tax I collect from my customers?
Send it in with your order. BBP will file it with your state for you. This service is part of your monthly hosting fees you pay to BBP. Failure to submit this tax will result in your immediate removal from BBP and you may face penalties, fines and legal action by your local tax authorities.

What do I do with the shipping charges I collect from my customers?
Send it in with your order. BBP pays UPS directly for all shipments processed out of our corporate office.

Can I charge more for shipping and keep the difference?
No. This is unethical and anybody found overcharging for our services would be released from BBP. You may charge extra to cover any additional fees that you incur.

Can I charge shipping if I'm selling an item out of my inventory?
Yes. If you originally paid shipping on that item, you may decide to collect the same amount from the customer when you sell that item.

Do I have to charge the customer shipping?
Yes. But you can give them "Free Shipping" if you are willing to make a little less money on your sale. Essentially, you can drop your retail price to make up for the shipping charges, and put the actual shipping charges where necessary, therefore, giving the customer "Free Shipping."

What do I do if a customer calls me the next day and wants to cancel?
Find out why, as you may be able to save the sale by answering a few of the customers concerns. If your have already sent in your order, your first step is to contact BBP to cancel their order. Refund any money to the customer directly within 72 hours.

Can I accept credit cards at my home parties?
Yes, Visa & Mastercards. Brown Bag Party integrates this process in your Brown Bag Party software.

Do I have to sell BBP's entire product line?
No. It's your business; you decide what items you want to show at your home parties. Obviously, the more items you present, the greater your sales will be.

Do I have to carry inventory?
No. Keeping a variety of sample products on hand is highly suggested, the more you can show at your parties, the greater your sales will be. This does not mean you have to carry inventory though. Some reps carry extra inventory to sell right then and there, boosting the chances for impulse buys, but this is not required.

Can I advertise my sites on search engines, such as Google Adwords?
Yes. You may utilize such "pay per click" programs such as Google Adwords to promote your site. All costs associated with such programs are your responsibility. We also recommend free message boards and sites that list opportunities. We do allow postings on myspace and other networking sites as long as it is done in a professional manner.

How much are supplies?
Brown Bag Party makes every attempt to keep these costs low. Our catalogs cost approximately 50 cents each while our customer invoices cost approximately 10 cents each. We offer these in bulk as well as low quantities, so your costs may vary depending on the size of your order.

I need a particular form. Where can I order them?
Most of our forms can be obtained from your back office and are free of charge and are in a PDF format. Simply click the link of the form you need and print it out. Other forms or brochures we charge for, such as recruitment materials, order forms etc. These can be ordered through your back office.

Is Brown Bag Party a Pyramid?
No. We are a network marketing company. A "pyramid" is a term often associated with companies that conduct illegal money-making schemes. We also offer a bigger training bonus of $50, compared with $0 to $30 at other companies. We're competitive in offering a $400 car bonus, as others do. MORE HOSTESS REWARDS

Some of our competitors start you off at as little as a 10% "buying discount" which means you earn only 10% on the items you sell, and you have to earn your way up to 40%. THEN you have to meet outrageous monthly sales requirements to earn up to 50% on the items you sell. We don't do that. We think every sales rep is equal, and we pay you all equal amounts, from the very beginning with no monthly sales quotas. We always allow you to earn 50% when you sell items at our suggested retail prices, which as mentioned above, are normally less expensive than our competitors.

QUICKER ADVANCEMENTS
For those who like to sponsor others, you'd have to work a long time to earn 3 levels deep at our competitor's company. At Brown Bag Party, you only have to sponsor as few as 5 people to earn down three levels. Some companies require that you sponsor at least 11 people before you reach their 3rd level. Even then they only pay you 4% on level 2 and 3% on level 3. We give you 5% on all three levels with as few as 5 active recruits.

WIDER RANGE OF PRODUCTS
Other companies only sell adult novelties (toys), while some only sell bath & body products. With Brown Bag Party, you'll have 5 categories of products to sell from. How do I book a party?

When can I have the party?
Anytime you want. We can get together and both check our shedules, pick out the prefect date and go from there!

Where can I have the party?
While most parties are held at a home, they can also be held in hotel rooms, banquet halls, or any other private location. I also have a local uptown bar offering their private room for my parties any week night. All that is asked is that you purchase their appetizers for you party. And tip the server. ;)

What occasion is best to have a party?
Most of our parties are held "just for the fun of it." Some are themed parties, or are to celebrate special events, such as: bachelorette parties, anniversaries, birthdays, job promotions, holiday parties and even themed parties. We can get together and design a theme just for your party! The possibilities are endless!

Does it cost anything to host a party?
No. You might want to serve some light snacks and drinks, but there is no cost to actually have a Brown Bag party consultant perform a party for you.

Who do I invite and how are they invited?
Invite anyone you'd like, over 18 years old such as friends, family, co-workers etc. The more you invite, the greater your free shopping spree will be! I will handle all the inviting on your behalf if you ask. Simply supply me with address and/or email addresses and I'll take care of everything. You will be asked to follow up with a phone call to each person invited to confirm. You will need to over invite to ensure a good turnout. Remember, I treat these parties as my business and this serves as my main source of income, so I ask you encourage as many people to attend as possible.

Do I personally have to sell or buy anything?
No.

How long does a party take?
Most parties last about 2 hours. It is advisable to discuss this with your consultant prior to date of the party. It also depends on the night of the week and location of the party.

Who actually shows & sells the products?
I will. As A certified Brown Bag Party Representative, I will do all of this for you. I will bring samples to show at party. I'll also process all the payments and orders. Note: Most consultants do not carry inventory, but do have items for prizes, games and contests.

Is there a minimum amount my party has to generate?
No. But in order to receive free products for being a host, your party has to reach at least $250 in retail sales.

Will anyone be able to see what I order?
No. Only I will know, and I do this for a living and I've seen it all! All the orders are processed in a private room, away from other people at the party. All orders are strictly confidential and private. We also promise never to sell or give away any of your information to any one for any reason.

When do we get the products we ordered?
Normally, we ship FedEx ground. This takes between 1 and 5 days, depending on where you live. We also offer 2-day air through FedEx, which costs a bit more but has a guaranteed delivery of 2 to 3 days after we receive the order from your consultant.

How much does ground shipping cost?
The shipping costs depend on the retail value of your order. Our catalogs list our current shipping pricing.

How are the products packaged? Just as our name says, in Brown Bags! Each item is safely wrapped and then placed in a brown paper bag. It is then shipped in a common brown shipping box. The return address only lists our corporate address and the words "Shipping Center". If the items are shipping directly to you, then all the products are carefully wrapped in a brown box.

Becoming a Brown Bag Party Consultant

People make choices about their lives everyday. Some of them are simple, like if I work out, I'll feel better & my life will improove. Some are truly life changing. Like taking the leap with a new job. Or being prompted to go out and find something different after a lay off. There are a lot of choices out there and some of them are a little scary.

Once you've done your research and decided to try your hand at direct sales, now you must choose which company to invest in. Which company to trust! You also want to make a decision about WHAT you'd like to sell. There are limitless articles and helpful books on direct sales marketing out there. They all strongly suggest that you sell what you love! And believe in what you sell!

My Why

I’ve always wanted to own my own business so I could call the shots. I can now! I’m no longer worried about uniforms ,punching in, layoffs, cut hours, asking for vacation time, or picking up someone else’s slack.

With the roller coaster economy, I figured opening a storefront business would be risky. After Googling every direct sales company out there, I kept going back to Romance Party Sales. I asked myself which type of party I would bo to if I were invited and I chose romances parties. Which did I think seemed like more fun, I chose romance parties. Which business seemed most recession proof, I chose romance parties!!

Ok, now which one to choose. I checked out every company, read every link, every page and even between the lines (including their charts and graphs). It was pretty confusing! One of the last companies I checked out was Brown Bag Party. How refreshing it was to read & learn the site I was on!! It was all so simple yet incredibly exciting. They offer their party Hostess 20% in free stuff, the others 10%. They PAY that 20%, the other companies require the reps to pay it out of pocket. They offered me 50% commissions or "buying discounts", the others seem like you have to own half the company before they will offer you even close. If I choose to build a team I can get spectacular benefits. If not, that’s ok, I still get 50%! Everyone is the same from active consultant all the way past the executive team builders. The list goes on!

But this is my story. And I chose those benefits over the others because I can run my business as I see fit. I’m in business!!! How wonderful is that!? I have an office that I control! I can use my artistic ability to design my display, my business cards, my flyers, how I dress and my advertising. It’s endless. I’m able to tap into my own resources to help myself succeed. I’m using my brain and having more fun that I’ve ever had! And I’m making money at it! I go to a party and get paid!

I have overhead but the 50% allows me to feel more comfortable with it. And I’m meeting some pretty terrific people. And a lot of times, I’m working that office, e-mailing in my jammies!!
